NFL Notes: Spring League, Bills, Colts, Cowboys, Dolphins, Packers

The Spring League

Bills

  • Sal Maiorana spoke with free agent OLB Lorenzo Alexander, who mentioned that he’s been in regular contact with the Bills. Alexander added that he’s hoping to stay with the Bills.

Colts

Cowboys

  • Todd Archer of ESPN reports that the Cowboys are in discussions with coordinators Scott Linehan and Rod Marinelli regarding contract extensions.

Dolphins

Dolphins GM Chris Grier told reporters on Thursday that they plan to discuss a contract extension for LB Kiko Alonso at some point this offseason.

“We made the trade for Kiko and we felt really good about him,” Grier said, via the Palm Beach Post. “He’s a player that we had liked when he came out of college. And he had that good rookie year at Buffalo. And for us he’s an important piece. For the community. As you see if you follow him on Twitter, he’s on Telemundo. You know he’s an important piece. So we’ll start talking to him and his agent here soon about trying to do something to extend him in the future.”

Packers

Rob Demovsky spoke to Brian Murphy, the agent for former Packers DT B.J. Raji, who said that his client isn’t expected to return to the NFL, despite somewhat surprisingly walking away from the game last year.

“When he made the decision it was to go home and take care of his family and be with them, and he’s still doing that,” Murphy said at the NFL scouting combine. “His family is his first priority. He hasn’t really thought about football.”

According to Murphy, the Packers still have some interest in him.

“They’d like to have him back,” Murphy said.

  • Dave Butz, the agent for former Packers RB James Starks, tells Rob Demovsky that Green Bay may not have closed the door on bringing him back: “I don’t think (the Packers) are opposed to bringing him back.”
  • Wisconsin RB Corey Clement mentioned that a Packers scout told him that they could draft two running backs this year, due to their lack of depth at the position. (Michael Cohen)
