NFL Notes: Spring League, Dez Bryant, Chiefs, & Dolphins

Spring League

Former NFL HC Jim Fassel mentioned during an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio that there’s a chance a new spring league could open next year.

“Don’t be surprised if there was a very good spring league opening next year in the NFL,” Fassel said Tuesday.

Dez Bryant

KD Drummond of CowboysHQ.com writes that Dez Bryant and his representatives could be trying to get a clause that would prevent the Cowboys from using their franchise tag on him again in 2016.

This comes after the threats from Bryant that he’s willing to skip training camp and regular season games unless an agreement is in place before tomorrow’s deadline.

Chiefs

  • Former Chiefs DB Kenneth Penny officially cleared waivers on Monday and is now an unrestricted free agent.

Dolphins

James Gould, the agent for Dolphins rookie WR DeVante Parker’s agent, recently mentioned that “everything is perfect” in regards to his client’s recovery from foot surgery.

According to Gould, Parker on track to play in Miami’s regular-season opener and he doesn’t see this being a recurring issue.

“I don’t think it will happen again,” Gould said, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “They got it right.”

  • The Dolphins are reportedly pleased with LT Branden Albert’s progress from major knee surgery.
  • Friends of Albert’s have said that he remains determined to play in the regular season opener, even though the Dolphins have yet to offer a definitive timetable for his return.
