NFL Notes: Steve Smith, Bills, Chargers, & Cowboys

Steve Smith

Ravens WR Steve Smith said he’d quite if he traded to another team before the upcoming deadline.

“If they traded me, I’d quit today,” Smith said, via Ravens.com. “I like to finish what I started.”

Smith said their focus remains on fixing their current issues, rather than playing for another team.

“We’re trying to fix all the damn holes in this boat right now. That’s what we’re focusing on,” Smith said. “Our focus is on Arizona.

Bills

Sources tell Jason Cole of B/R that the only reason Percy Harvin isn’t in London with the Bills is due to his hip and knee ailments.

Regarding the report that Harvin is contemplating retirement, Cole’s sources have said “that’s simple not true.” Harvin is admittedly frustrated about his injuries, but he intends to play again once he’s healthy.

Cole mentions that some of this talk can be attributed to the fact that the Bills have listed the reason for him being away from the team as “personal reasons” instead of something injury related. With this in mind, Cole believes this could ultimately result in some form of a standout between the team and Harvin.

Chargers

Chargers TE Antonio Gates is dealing with a sprained MCL and will be a game-time decision for Sunday’s game against the Raiders.

“It’s something I’m not accustomed to dealing with,” Gates said Friday, via Michael Gehlken of the Union-Tribune San Diego. “I’ve always heard about people with knee situations. Now, I’m dealing with one.”

Cowboys

Cowboys RB Christine Michael admitted that he’s unsure of what his role will be in Sunday’s game.

“I’m just as clueless as you are,” Michael said, via Dallas Morning News. “Those guys did say I’m going to get a little bit more carries, but we’ll see.

I’m just going to help to do my part. Whatever that bigger part consists of, I’m going to just do what I have to do.”

  • Cowboys WR Dez Bryant did not travel with the team today, and is instead resting at home.
  • However, Charean Williams admits Bryant could make trip tomorrow.
