NFL Notes: Tim Tebow, Duron Carter & Seahawks

Tim Tebow

  • Saskatchewan Roughriders assistant GM Jeremy O’Day believes free agent QB Tim Tebowwould struggle” in the CFL. (MMQB)

O’Day states that Tebow’s accuracy issues would be his “major downfall” in the pass heavy CFL. Regardless, Tebow and his representatives have shown no interest in playing in the Canadian league, despite being on the Montreal Alouettes negotiating list.

Tebow, 26, mentioned earlier in June that he still has ambitions of playing in the NFL. Tebow is currently working as a college football analyst for ESPN’s new SEC Network.

Duron Carter

  • Montreal Alouettes GM Jim Popp believes that WR Duron Carter will be a “highly sought after” NFL prospect. (MMQB)

He’s got every measurable. He’s fast, 6-foot-4, can be a punt returner in the NFL with his size, can run with the ball, has got tremendous body control. When he got on the field last year for us he was just phenomenal,” said Popp. “He’ll be a highly, highly sought after, Cam Wake kind of guy. But this guy can go in and be a one or two guy. He is phenomenal…

Carter, 23, was a four-star recruit out of High School that signed with Ohio State but had vast academic issues. Father and Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter stood up for his son in an interview in April.

He didn’t commit a crime, he has no tattoos, he has no kids, and he’s a pleasant kid. His thing is he hates school, though,” Carter told USA TODAY Sports. “And I’m his dad. He’s really bright; he’s got an IQ over 130. He just hates school. We gave him the pretest on the Wonderlic. He got a 28.”

Seahawks

  • Seahawks HC Pete Carroll mentioned that second-year DT Jesse Williams has had a “tremendous offseason.” However, Carroll admitted that he was concerned Williams could be “done.”

“I thought that maybe Jesse was done,” Carroll said, via the Tacoma News Tribune. “We didn’t know coming out of the last season. He had a tremendous offseason. His rehab work was great. He worked every day. He’s ready to get in the middle of it. To bring that guy back to us at full speed could be really a great addition.

Williams, 23, landed on the injured reserve before his rookie season began after battling knee issues coming out of Alabama. Now in his second season, Williams will compete for a roster spot behind DTs Brandon Mebane and newly signed Kevin Williams.

Williams was a fifth-round draft pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. It is worth noting that fellow second-year defensive lineman Jordan Hill is also healthy and expected to compete with Williams for playing time.

    • Bill, I apologize for the mistake regarding Tebow’s age.

I can assure you that we aren’t trying to frame Tebow news in a way that casts him in a poor light. This is actually the first news we’ve regarding him in months, so we figured we would pass it along in a collection of notes.

Thanks for pointing out the mistake. I appreciate it.

    • I read your post history. Are currently in a relationship with Tebow? You should get your lips surgically removed from his rear end.

      • Dude look at you I’m 47 and could still take you on the court, field or football field. Head looks like a watermelon. Quit playing world of warcraft and get in reality. The line “mom meatloaf now.” was based on you. Sorry I have played and forgot more football than you.
