NFL Notes: Tom Brady, Cowboys, Dolphins, & Jaguars

Tom Brady

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Patriots QB Tom Brady was believed to be “open” to serving a one-game suspension for not cooperating with Ted Wells’ investigation as part of a potential settlement on Monday.

However, talks between Brady and the NFL reportedly broke down when Judge Richard M. Berman visited the two sides and informed them they were too far apart and there was really no point to continuing.

According to Rapoport, Brady has continued to maintain his position that he would not accept the findings of the Wells Report and was unwilling to accept responsibility for a potential role in the deflation of footballs.

Rapoport adds that the NFL appeared to be willing to offer Brady a two-game suspension, but no offer was ultimately made because discussions never reached that point.

Cowboys

Dolphins

  • According to James Walker of ESPN, CB Will Davis, WR Matt Hazel, LB Mike Hull, DT Anthony Johsnon, and QB Josh Freeman are all in need of a big week in order to make the team’s 53-man roster.
  • Walker mentions that Freeman hasn’t done enough up to his point to push Matt Moore for the backup job or convince the team to keep three quarterbacks on their roster.

Jaguars

  • Jaguars officially placed first-round DE Dante Fowler and OT Josh Wells on season-ending injured reserve.
