NFL Notes: Tom Brady, Sheldon Richardson, Jason Pierre Paul

Tom Brady

  • Gabe Feldman reports that the judge hearing Tom Brady‘s lawsuit against the NFL has granted an expedited schedule to NFL and NFLPA, and has set August 19 as date for oral argument in the case.
  • Feldman adds that the judge also ordered Brady and commissioner Roger Goodell to appear at the settlement conference on August 12th.

Sheldon Richardson

Jets DE Sheldon Richardson mentioned that he has “to be better” moving forward following his recent arrest.

“I’ve got to do better,” Richardson said Friday, via the New York Post. “I will do better. … That was just one bad night. I thought it would be fun to show my family members something. They’d never been in a car like that before.

  • Jets HC Todd Bowles told reporters that they’re “prepared to win without” Richardson and added: “You lose a lot of trust.” (Around the NFL)
  • Bowles added that he has “no idea” if Richardson will play in 2015. (Rich Cimini)

Jason Pierre-Paul

On Friday, pictures surfaced of Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul‘s hand wrapped in soft bandages following the fireworks accident that cost him his right index finger.

Dan Graziano of ESPN reports that JPPs hand must remain immobilized while it heals, which is why the entire hand is wrapped like a club while the site of the amputation and his skin grafts are healing.

Pierre-Paul is unable to use the hand during the recovery process, which means he can’t lift weights or do any rehab that involving his injured hand. The expectation is that Pierre-Paul will need a six-week recovery period, which leaves him about three weeks or so to go.
