NFL Notes: Vernon Adams, Karlos Dansby, Broncos & Rams

Vernon Adams

Former Oregon QB Vernon Adams says he isn’t worried about getting an opportunity in the NFL, and is instead focused on starting for the Montreal Alouettes.

“I can tell you I am not worried about the NFL,” Adams said, via Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com. “And they’re not worried about me. I’m not even starting here. I want to get bigger and faster and play here. If the NFL comes calling in five or 10 years or whatever, then maybe I might consider it. But as of right now. I’m fine.”

A lot has been made about Adams’ height, but as Alouettes’ GM Jim Popp explains, the CFL doesn’t place as high of a value on measureables as the NFL, due in large part to the fact that the NFL has that luxury while they don’t.

“I know some of the measureables aren’t there,” Popp said of Adams. “He’s not quite the height that people are looking for. But he sees the field tremendously, is a great competitor and someone we think is worth an investment for our future.

“The way it is, is this: the NFL can have who they want, and the CFL has to adjust. We don’t get every measurable. We take football players. We take football players that have performed in the past, no matter what the measureables. That applies to most of the guys in the CFL that you play with and win with.”

Karlos Dansby

Broncos

• Regarding some speculation that the Broncos could eventually be for sale, depending on what happens with Pat Bowlen’s children, Patrick Smyth mentions that ownership has no plans to sell sale of the franchise.
• Instead, Smyth mentions that the hope is to keep the Broncos in the Bowlen family.

Rams

Rams DT Aaron Donald told Alex Marvez and Kirk Morrison of Sirius XM NFL Radio on Wednesday that he plans to focus on doing his job and his contract situation will take care of itself at some point.

“I’m just going to go out there and do my job,” Donald said. “All the business parts off the field will happen when they happen. But right now, my main focus is not letting that affect what I’m doing on the football field and slow me down. I’m just playing football and everything will pay off in the long run.”
