NFL Notes: Von Miller, Ryan Fitzpatrick, & Cowboys

Von Miller

Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reports that those who have spoken with OLB Von Miller say he isn’t pleased with the Broncos’ evaluation of his worth.

According to Robinson, Denver is offering him what amounts to a “real” two-year guaranteed deal for $38.5 million. Robinson points out that this figure essentially amounts to just $1.5 million more than Brock Osweiler got from the Texans, and $3.5 million a year more than the Jaguars gave to DT Malik Jackson.

Meanwhile, Ndamukong Suh and Marcell Dareus secured $60 million and $42.9 million guaranteed respectively in their latest contracts.

Robinson believes the Broncos’ offer suggests a lack of trust in Miller beyond the 2017 season.

  • Mike Florio reports that the Broncos and Miller’s representatives have yet to truly engage in contract negotiations.
  • According to Florio, there’s a “real sense of tension” between the two sides right now.

Ryan Fitzpatrick

  • Ian Rapoport reports that there’s still no update regarding the Jets and free agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.
  • Rapoport adds that it appears as though nothing will change as the Jets’ head into minicamp.

Cowboys

While Cowboys owner Jerry Jones mentioned that they are cutting LB Rolando McClain some slack with his absence from the team, Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News doesn’t get the same impression from HC Jason Garrett.

I hear those comments and it just shows me the difference between Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett. Because Jason Garrett is not wanting to cut anyone some slack right now, especially not Rolando McClain,” Machota said. “I can tell how fed up he is with Rolando not being here. It just goes against his whole philosophy.”
