NFL Officials & Raiders Meeting With Lott Group To Discuss Team Staying In Oakland

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that NFL officials and members of the Raiders brass are meeting Monday with the Ronnie Lott Group to discuss the proposal to keep the team in Oakland.

Rapoport mentions that the timing of this meeting is interesting, considering that Oakland City Council and Alameda County Board of Supervisors will be voting on a proposed term sheet for the $1.3-billion stadium.

The parties involved reportedly feel an obligation to investigate any proposal but Rapoport says that there are still questions and issues to be discussed.

Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf has said previously that this agreement “puts Oakland in the running to keep the Raiders in a way that is responsible.”

NFL owners will meet in Dallas on Wednesday and discuss this issue specifically.

Raiders owner Mark Davis has had his sights set on relocating the team to Las Vegas and has secured $750 million in public funding for a new stadium. However, there are still some issues with that proposal, as casino owner Sheldon Anderson has demanded an ownership stake in the team.

We’ll have more regarding the Raiders and negotiations with the city of Oakland as the news is available.
