NFL Rumors: Bengals After Kevin Kolb?

This should officially complete the list of NFL teams that are rumored to be interested in Philadelphia Eagles QB Kevin Kolb. Every team that you can think of has been linked to Kolb at some point in time.

Cincinnati’s new WR coach, James Urban was the Eagles’ QB coach last season so there is at least one tie to the Bengals.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the Bengals have “floated the idea” of trading for Kolb once a new deal is in place.

“Make no mistake about it,” said Schefter. “The Bengals know they need to move on without Carson Palmer.”

If Schefter’s report is accurate it would indicate that Bengals owner Mike Brown is ready to adjust his stance on trading Palmer. So far Brown has refused to even humor the idea but that could have been part of an a smoke screen to distract teams of their draft plans.

Cincinnati is going to have to rebuild their offense at some point and bringing a quarterback like Kolb would give a building block to build around. The problem for the Bengals is that they’ll have to part with next years draft in return for Kolb because of the fact that there still isn’t a new labor deal in place.
