NFL Rumors: Bengals Not Interested In Trading Palmer

Yesterday we got word that Carson Palmer had requested a trade from the Cincinnati Bengals and would be willing to consider retirement if they chose to not trade him.

Well it appears that Bengals are willing to call Palmer’s bluff. Bengals owner Mike Brown addressed the situation today by saying that “We are not trading Carson.” He also confirmed that Palmer did in fact request a trade but the teams isn’t willing to make such a deal.

Considering that Palmer is only 31 and is due to make another $50 million over the remaining years on his contract, retiring doesn’t seem to be a plausible idea.

Chad Ochocinco didn’t miss the opportunity to add his opinion to the matter. Ochocinco tweets, “Carson Palmer demands a trade?  Last person demanded a trade in Cincy was crucified by the media [and] had to win the fans back, how will this go?”

The point that Chad makes about the damage done by requesting a trade is valid and could end up playing a role in the situation. Bengals fans may not want Palmer back next season anyway which help to fuel a trade if they finds interested teams that are ready to make a deal happen.

There’s a long list of teams that are in need of quarterback help so can pretty much add all of them to the list and start crossing them off as the situation becomes more transparent.

The list would include the Redskins, Titans, Seahawks, 49ers, Vikings, Dolphins, Panthers, Cardinals for now.
