NFL Rumors: Champ Bailey Done In Denver?

Earlier on in the season it appeared that it was only a matter of time before the Denver Broncos and Champ Bailey came to agreement on a contract extension that would keep Bailey in Denver for the remainder of his career but after what has been a disastrous 2010 season, a deal seems unlikely given the state of team.

Bailey is poised to receive a large offer given that he is still playing at high level this season but as of now the Broncos aren’t willing to payout the kind of money that he will demand on the open market. There still remains a chance that Denver could franchise him but the fact that they weren’t willing to offer enough money to get the deal done during the season isn’t a good indication that the team will be willing pay Champ the franchise salary.

If Bailey hits the free agent market there will no shortage of suitors for his services. Pass defense has become the vocal point for the majority of NFL defensive schemes so getting a shutdown corner is in high demand.
