NFL Rumors: Champ Bailey Moving On From Denver?

Early on in the season it seemed like it was just a matter of time before the Broncos and Champ Bailey came to a contract extension that would Champ in Denver for the remainder of his NFL career. But as things stand right now, Bailey seems more likely to be playing for new team once a new CBA is in place.

Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post addresses this topic by mentioning that the Broncos decision to pull the offer that they extended to Bailey during the season could be one of the main inhibiting factors to getting an extension signed.

Champ has already made it known that he would like to play for a Super Bowl contender and the Broncos are as far away as any team is towards competing for a title.

Even if teams are able to use franchise tags in the coming weeks, Legwold doesn’t think that the Broncos would want to pay Bailey the kind of money that the tag would require.

There are plenty of teams who are in need of cornerback help but considering that Bailey wants to compete for a Super Bowl, the Ravens, Steelers, Giants and Eagles would make the most sense (2011 Draft Order/Team Needs).

  1. what about the Falcons? they need another good cb. you can sign him to a 2-3 yr deal the window with Gonzalez, Abraham, & even Turner is getting shorter. Plus youd be bringing back a hometown kid (UGA) which never hurts in revenue. We could play him opposite Dunta Robinson & have 2 legit corners. He could be the ONE BIG free agent move the falcons make this year…that way we can address the DE (need pressure off the edge) and of course OL
