NFL Rumors: Colts An Option For Tommie Harris?

With the draft only two weeks away and a lockout enacted, there have been very few rumors related to free agent options.  Before the lockout, former Chicago Bears DT Tommie Harris was said to have interest from a few NFL teams but no deal was reached leaving him in the same position as a number of players.

Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune puts it simply. “Don’t be surprised if Tommie Harris signs with the Colts once the lockout ends.”

When you look at the Colt’s needs and defensive scheme, adding Harris would make some sense. The real problem is that Indianapolis has stayed away from the free agent market to fill their roster holes so adding Harris would be a change of strategy for the team. The Colts really need to shore up their defense for next season because of the issues that they dealt with in 2010 so signing Harris shouldn’t be ruled out because Harris is most likely going to be a cost efficient option for NFL teams.
