NFL Rumors: Colts Drafting Andy Dalton?

It’s hard to really gauge a teams interest in player because of a single workout but in some cases it indicates that a team is considering making a move that few may have seen coming.

As FOXSports.com reports, the Indianapolis Colts have setup a work out with TCU QB Andy Dalton for some time before the upcoming draft. The Colts drafted Curtis Painter last season to replace longtime backup quarterback Jim Sorgi who left to play behind the other Manning in New York.

Dalton’s draft stock has been rising in recent weeks which makes the idea of Indianapolis drafting him seem unlikely. The Colts would have to take him No. 22 or risk losing him before they’re on the board during second-round at No. 53.

The idea of finding a solid replacement for Peyton Manning now makes plenty of sense considering how well it paid off for the Green Bay Packers when they drafted Aaron Rodgers despite having Brett Favre but drafting Dalton would require them use a draft pick on position of strength rather than one of a number of positions that need improvement.
