NFL Rumors: Cowboys Cutting Terence Newman?

TFY Draft Insider mentions that a member of the Dallas Cowboys front office suggested that the team feels that it’s time to move on from CB Terence Newman.

Heading into the 2011 season, Newman is set to $8 million (non-guaranteed) and will be 33 years old. Dallas may keep Newman around until they have a replacement in place but it’s worth noting that cornerback is a position that they plan on addressing during the draft.

From the Cowboys perspective, it makes plenty of sense to get rid of Newman because of his price tag and age. He’s not the same as Charles Woodson or Champ Bailey are at that age so it will serve them better to find someone that can fill that position for a number of years to come. There’s a chance that Nebraska’s Prince Amukamara could be available at No. 9.

  1. He hasnt been the same…I as a Cowboys fan thought last season that it was his last season as a Cowboys, they need someone fresh, Newman wasnt terrible but he doesnt have the speed needed anymore.
