NFL Rumors: Falcons Serious About Moving Up?

Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reports that the Atlanta Falcons are in fact actively looking to trade up for a play maker such as Julio Jones, A.J. Green or Patrick Peterson. Glazer specifically mentions that the Falcons have been discussing the idea with Arizona, Cleveland and San Francisco. He see’s the Browns No. 6 pick as the most likely option of the three.

If Atlanta is serious about moving up for one of the before mentioned players, trading up to No. 6 should secure the Falcons the opportunity to land one of them. The cost of such a move will be really high and you could make the case that the Falcons are in need of more than just one play maker.

Green Bay’s passing attack, more specifically Aaron Rodgers, exposed their defense in their meeting in round-two of the playoffs. Even if they get Peterson, they’re still going to have to address the offensive line considering that Tyson Clabo and Harvey Dahl are set to become free agents and they’re in need of another pass rusher. Tony Gonzalez is at the end of his career so a tight end for the future is needed as well another running back. These issues could be addressed during free agency but it’s hard to guarantee that you’re going to find adequate replacements or upgrades.

Tough decisions will have to be made but it seems crazy to think that they’re one player away from winning it all. I’d be really surprised to see this happen.
