NFL Rumors: Jarvis Landry, Kirk Cousins, Trumaine Johnson, Free Agency

Jarvis Landry

  • Armando Salguero reports that if the Dolphins don’t get an acceptable trade offer from a team for WR Jarvis Landry, they’re perfectly fine keeping him at the $16 million franchise tender.
  • According to Salguero, even if the Dolphins can’t complete a trade during free agency or the draft, they will likely continue to shop him through the start of the regular season if necessary.
  • However, Salguero doubts it takes long for the Dolphins to complete a trade for Landry.
  • As for some teams to watch, Salguero tosses out the Bears, 49ers and possibly the Titans.
  • While the Ravens have come up as a potential suitor for Landry, Salguero points out that their cap situation has them in a tough position.
  • In terms of compensation, Salguero says that the Dolphins probably want a second-round pick for him, but he’d be surprised if teams were willing to offer much more than a fourth-rounder. Salguero doesn’t rule out the possibility that they could swap Landry for a player.
  • According to Jeff Howe, the Dolphins have received “plenty of trade interest” in franchise WR Jarvis Landry and the likelihood is increasing that he’ll get dealt at some point.
  • Howe adds that the Patriots are not among the interested teams in Landry.

Kirk Cousins

  • Tony Pauline hears that there are four teams in the mix for free agent QB Kirk Cousins: the Vikings, Broncos, Jets and Cardinals. According to Pauline, sources around the league believe it will be an “uphill battle” for the Jets to sign Cousins, despite having a ton of cap room. Pauline has spoken to a number of sources who believe the Redskins were “foolish” to allow Cousins to walk.

Trumaine Johnson

  • Regarding free agent CB Trumaine Johnson, Tony Pauline reports that the 49ers are intent on being players for him and could help up pushing out the Raiders due to the amount of cap space they have available.

Free Agency

  • Should the Raiders miss on Johnson, Tony Pauline says they could show interest in Eagles CB Patrick Robinson, who is also generating interest from the Cardinals.
  • Albert Breer believes the Vikings would consider having Teddy Bridgewater back as their starter if they’re unable to sign Kirk Cousins in free agency.
  • According to Breer, he gets the sense that the Broncos will target QB Case Keenum if they’re unable to sign Cousins.
  • Jeff Howe reports that Eagles impending free-agent TE Trey Burton will likely command a contract on the open market that will pay him above $6 million annually.
  • Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for Chiefs free agent WR Albert Wilson, tells Pro Football Talk that his client will draw plenty of interest at the start of free agency.
