So far I think we’ve covered every possible option that Nnamdi Asomugha will have once free agency is open. Just type “Asomugha” in the search bar, you’ll see.
From Eagles president Joe Banner’s rececnt comments it would suggest that the team will not shy away from targeting impact players like Nnamdi despite Asante Samuel‘s big contract.
“There may be opportunities to get some great players that can make a difference at large salaries,” Banner told the Philly press, per Matt Mosley of ESPN’s NFC East blog. “There may be an opportunity to get some guys that are very good players but, because there are so many free agents at once, are very good values, and we’re going to try to be in a position to take advantage of the situation.”
“If we went or didn’t go in any particular direction, it wouldn’t be because of the balance of the cap at that particular position,” Banner confirmed.
While this isn’t the most definitive statement in regards to Philadelphia’s interest in Asomugha but the fact that one of the likeliest suitors for the Pro Bowl cornerback is willing to actively pursue impact players despite the price tag makes them more of a serious candidate.
