NFL Rumors: Raiders Zach Miller Plans On Staying In Oakland

The Raiders offseason has already been as busy as anyones. So far they’ve brought in a new head coach (Hue Jackson), re-signed DE Richard Seymour and CB Stanford Routt and have franchised LB Kamerion Wimbley. Interestingly enough, they haven’t addressed free agents-to-be TE Zach Miller or CB Nnamdi Asomugha yet. Oaklands moves suggest that the Asomugha will be signing some where else but there still a chance that they could retain Miller.

In an interview with Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune, Miller mentioned that he is appreciative for receiving the high-restricted free agent tag that the Raiders used on him this last week.

“It does feel good,” said Miller.  “It’d be great to be back in Oakland. I really feel like we’re headed in the right direction with Hue Jackson and the way things are going. We had preliminary discussions [on a contract] before deadline and I’m sure they’ll pick up again once there’s a CBA in place and we get back to business.”

Miller’s optimism  could lead to an agreement that would keep the young tight end in Oakland for the coming years. Retaining Miller would help their offense plenty more than finding a replacement but Oaklands early spending makes it hard to guesstimate.
