NFL Rumors: Terrell Suggs, D’Qwell Jackson, Draft, Jaguars & Raiders

Terrell Suggs

  • According to Jamison Hensley of ESPN, the Scottsdale Police Department has formally charged Ravens LB Terrell Suggs with two misdemeanors from his car accident on March 5, including driving with a suspended license and failure to notify after striking a fixture.
  • Hensley adds that while jail time is a possibility, it is more likely this will result in a fine for Suggs.

D’Qwell Jackson

  • Colts LB D’Qwell Jackson was found guilty for simple assault for punching a pizza delivery driver over a parking spot back in February, per WTHR NBC.
  • Jackson released a statement saying: “I sincerely regret that this case ever happened and has gotten to this point. I will continue to live my life in a way that confirms I am a good and honorable citizen.”

Draft

  • According to Tony Pauline of Draft Insider, UCLA LB Aaron Wallace impressed scouts during coverage drills and moving in reverse. In fact, Wallace was raved about by HC Jim Mora to several scouts and GMs.
  • The Buccaneers met with Wallace over dinner on Monday.
  • Pauline says that one source described LB Myles Jack as a “remarkable” player, while saying of his speed: “[H]e looked like a defensive back doing linebacker drills.”
  • Though Jack impressed during his positional workouts, Pauline writes that some GMs were upset over his non-participation during the 40-yard dash and shuttle drills.
  • Pauline adds that some scouts feel OL Alex Redmond had one of the best workouts among guards in the draft after looking “athletic, smooth, and NFL-ready” and many believe he could be a starter upon being drafted.
  • However, teams are reportedly concerned over Redmond’s character as he often showed up late during the season and had other issues.
  • Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie, Rams GM Les Snead, Bills GM Doug Whaley and 49ers GM Trent Balke were among he general managers in attendance at UCLA’s Pro Day, per Pauline.

Jaguars

  • Mark Long reports the Jaguars signed OT Kelvin Beachum to compete with LT Luke Joeckel.
  • Long adds that LB Sean Spence, who visited with the Jaguars on Tuesday, is expected to visit other teams before deciding who he will sign with.

Raiders

Recently acquired OLB Bruce Irvin said he will play primarily as a pass rusher rather than dropping back into coverage.

I was drafted to be a pass rusher and, with the situation in Seattle, they brought in Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett my second year, which pushed me into a linebacker role,” said Irvin, via Scott Bair of CSN Bay Area.I didn’t complain and went with the flow, but now I think (Raiders head coach) Jack Del Rio and Coach Norton are going to let me rush more. I don’t have a problem dropping into coverage, but I would prefer to go forward more than I go backward.

Coach Del Rio watched film of me and noticed I was dropping in coverage a lot. That’s one of the things he wanted to change.”
