NFL Rumors: Santana Moss In Oakland?

Over the weekend ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the contact of Washington Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss will be voided in the coming days. Moss’s agent included a clause that voided his contract five days after the Super Bowl this season.

Moss is currently 31 years old which basically means that he is entering the down swing of his career but despite his age Moss remained an effective part of the Redskins offense this season.

ESPN’s Bill Williamson writes that the Oakland Raiders could be a possible destination for Moss once free agency is underway (whenever that is). Moss has ties to Oakland quarterback Jason Campbell and for new Oakland offensive coordinator Al Saunders from their days in Washington.

The Redskins will have to find a way to get more production out of the teams passing game next season and the idea that Moss could leave isn’t likely to help them in that department.

As for the Raiders, they have a good young group of receivers that could be helped by the presence of a solid veteran player like Moss. You could draw a parallel between the group of Raider receivers including Moss and the Green Bay Packers wide-outs group that consists of young talent a Donald Driver.
