NFL Rumors: Trades, Free Agency, Draft

Trades

Mike Sando of ESPN spoke with NFL executives at the Combine and compiled a list of 10 trades that they either proposed, vetted and/or heard in rumors last week.

The 10 trades include:

  1. Seahawks trade S Earl Thomas to Cowboys for DL David Irving and a 2018 second- or third-round pick
  2. Texans trade OLB Jadeveon Clowney to the Patriots for a 2018 first-round pick
  3. Cowboys trade WR Dez Bryant to the Dolphins or Bears for a 2018 sixth-round pick
  4. Raiders trade a second-round pick to the Buccaneers for DT Gerald McCoy
  5. Patriots trade WR Brandin Cooks to the Redskins or Bears for a 2018 second-round pick
  6. Chargers trade QB Philip Rivers to the Vikings for 2018 second- and 2019 first-round picks
  7. Broncos trade CB Aqib Talib to the Patriots for a late-round pick
  8. Eagles trade QB Nick Foles to the Browns or another quarterback-needy team
  9. Bills trade OT Cordy Glenn to the Colts for a late-round pick
  10. Seahawks trade DE Michael Bennett to the Falcons or another team with a similar defensive scheme

Free Agency

  • According to Tony Pauline, almost everyone he’s spoken to expects Cowboys LB Anthony Hitchens to end up signing with the Colts.
  • Pauline says there will be a “huge market” for Falcons DT Dontari Poe this year.
  • Regarding Panthers G Andrew Norwell, Pauline says the belief is that Norwell to the Giants is a “done deal.
  • Pauline also says there has been buzz that Kirk Cousins ending up with the Vikings is also “done deal.
  • Rams CB Trumaine Johnson has been linked to the 49ers and Raiders, but Pauline has heard that the Cowboys are also interested, even though it would be tough for them to compete with other cap-rich teams like the 49ers.

Draft

  • One NFL team told Adam Schefter this past weekend at the Combine that they have Louisville’s Lamar Jackson as the second-rated quarterback in this year’s NFL draft class.
  • Regarding Jackson, Ben Volin reports that not having an agent showed at the Combine, as he didn’t do well in interviews and white-board work.
  • According to Lance Zierlein, more than one team thinks Oklahoma OT Orlando Brown could very well be available on day 3 of the draft following a terrible Combine. Zierlein adds that no one he spoke to views Brown as a first-round pick.
  • Tony Pauline reports that LSU pass rusher Arden Key continues to drop down draft boards and NFL teams did not like his decision to not run the 40-yard dash or participate in the bench press.
  • The Saints had a formal interview with Louisville CB Jaire Alexander at the Combine. (Sean Fazende)
