NFL Rumors: Vikings Plan On Going With A Rookie QB?

Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune reports that the Minnesota Vikings head coach has indicated that they plan on drafting a quarterback and starting him for the upcoming season.

“(The idea) would be to get a young guy that could say, ‘OK, we’re going to ride with this guy. He’s our [Joe] Flacco, he’s our [Mark] Sanchez, he’s our Matt Ryan,'” Frazier said. “He would step in as our starter.”

Zulgad was given the impression that the Vikings will take a quarterback in either the first or second-round of the upcoming draft even if the player isn’t considered to be “pro-ready.”

Jake Locker is believed to be one of the quarterbacks that the Vikings are considering but Ryan Mallet or Colin Kaepernick should also be considered as possible options for Minnesota.
