NFL Rumors: Vikings Trading Out No. 12?

Jeremy Fowler of the Pioneer Press mentions that Vikings VP of player personnel Rick Spielman has suggested that there’s a chance that the team could trade out of the No. 12 spot on Thursday.

When you look at the draft, or you look at the potential of moving out of the No. 12 pick and accumulating more picks, I think it’s a good draft, a really deep draft,” says Spielman. “There are some positions in this draft that are extremely intriguing, to say the least.

Considering that the Vikings are without a 3rd pick this year because of the Randy Moss trade with New England, moving down and acquiring an additional draft pick would be a great move for Minnesota. The real question will be whether or not there’s a player available at No. 12 that’s worth trading up for. There should be plenty of solid prospects still on the board but should allow teams to a get a great player without having to make a deal.

A lot can change once the draft is underway so Minnesota will likely be working the phones to ensure that they’re getting the most out of this years draft.
