NFL Rumors: Vince Young Hoping To Stay In Tennessee?

From all indications, the Tennessee Titans will have a quarterback other than Vince Young once next season is underway. The Titans have made it known that they intend on trading Young as soon as they can but that remains a tall task considering the money that he’s due to make ($8.5 million).

In an interview with Chaney Entertainment, Young explained that he would like return to the Titans and even praised new head coach Mike Munchak.

“I would love to stay in Nashville. I would love to stay in Tennessee,” says Young. “If it doesn’t happen, wherever God blesses me to be at I’ll give 100 percent.”

“I’m a big fan of Munchak,” Young said. “I always call him Big Hall of Famer in the hallways and things like that. I have a lot of respect for him and he has a lot of respect for me so it’s great. He deserves it … like coach Fisher said … he’s definitely the guy for the job.”

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean doesn’t think that this will change the teams plan for Young. At the NFL Combine Titans GM Mike Reinfeldt mentioned that the Titans have already discussed trading him with a few teams.

As we’ve already mentioned, the chances that the Titans will be able to find a team that is willing to trade for Young and his salary are pretty slim. The most likely scenario that has been mentioned by a number of NFL insiders is that they will end up cutting him which will allow teams to sign him for a more reasonable contract. Teams will definitely have interest in him as long as they don’t have to give up draft picks and pay his salary.
