NFL Teams No Longer Believe Giants Will Trade Odell Beckham Before Draft

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that NFL teams around the league no longer believe the Giants are going to be trading WR Odell Beckham before or during upcoming NFL draft.

Schefter says that this represents a change in thinking from NFL teams, given that it was once believed that there was a “real chance” the Giants would trade Beckham.

A few weeks ago, Schefter mentioned during an appearance on “Golic and Wingo” that he wouldn’t be surprised if the Giants traded Beckham before this year’s draft.

“I would not be surprised if we see an Odell Beckham trade on or before the NFL draft,” Schefter said.

However, Beckham officially reported for the start of the team’s voluntary offseason workouts on Monday and it appears as though the two parties will see how things go moving forward before considering a record-breaking contract for a receiver.

Beckham, 25, was taken with the No. 12 overall pick by the Giants back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $10,406,198 contract but the Giants picked up his fifth-year option last year.

Beckham stands to make a base salary of $8,459,000 for the 2018 season. The Giants have their franchise tag available next year if needed.

In 2017, Beckham Jr’s season was cut short when he suffered a season-ending injury. He caught 25 passes for 302 yards receiving and three touchdowns over the course of four games.
