NFL Teams Showing “Mild Interest” In Free Agent QB Robert Griffin III

According to Mike Freeman of B/R, free agent QB Robert Griffin III is starting to draw some “mild interest” around the NFL and there are some teams want to see what RGIII has left.

This is the first reported interest in RGIII in several months.

Unfortunately, Freeman doesn’t say who the interested teams are and it’s likely RGIII would be given just an opportunity to compete for a backup job in training camp if some team were to bring in him.

Even so, it never hurts to be on the radar of NFL teams, as I’m sure there will be some injuries in the next month and a half that could open the door for RGIII.

Griffin, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Redskins back in 2012. He spent four years in Washington before signing a two-year, $15 million contract that includes $6.75 million guaranteed with the Browns back in March of last year.

RGIII was set to make a base salary of $6 million for the 2017 season when the Browns released him this past March.

In 2016, Griffin appeared in five games thrown for 886 yards while completing 59.2 percent his passes to go along with two touchdowns and three interceptions. He’s also added 190 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Browns.

We’ll have more regarding potential options for RGIII as the news is available.
