Nick Caserio & Eliot Wolf Also Expected To Candidates For Giants GM Job

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is reporting that along with former Panthers GM Dave Gettleman, the Giants are expected to have other candidates in the mix for the GM vacancy including Patriots VP of player personnel Nick Caserio and Packers director of football operations Eliot Wolf.

A source tells Florio that the thinking is that Gettleman or Wolf could hire Eagles D Jim Schwartz as the team’s next head coach while Caserio could attempt to lure Patriots OC Josh McDaniels to New York with him.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported earlier in the day that Gettleman is considered the favorite for the Giants vacant GM position.

Gettleman previously worked for the Giants as their Pro Personnel Director and the Senior Pro Personnel Analyst before departing to become the Panthers GM in 2013. Rapoport points out that Giants owner John Mara and Steve Tisch typically hire candidates with ties to the organization, so Gettleman obviously checks that box.

Another positive for Gettleman is the fact that he’s friends with Ernie Accorsi, who is serving as the Giants’ consultant for the team’s GM search.

Should New York settle on Gettleman as their next GM, Rapoport mentions that they could keep interim GM Kevin Abrams on board, but he will also get serious consideration for the position.

If the Giants do, in fact, settle on Gettleman, Rapoport says that Panthers DC Steve Wilks will get a serious look for the Giants head-coaching job because of his reputation and their history together.

Other candidates worth keeping an eye on for the Giants’ GM position include:

If you’re looking for other candidates for the Giants’ GM position, Rapoport lists:
