Nick Foles Making Progress, Still Not Cleared To Play

Eagles HC Chip Kelly told reporters on Monday that a recent exam of QB Nick Foles‘ broken collarbone showed that there has been some healing, per EaglesInsider.

However, Kelly added that the injury is not completely healed at this point in time and Foles still isn’t cleared to play.

This news should come as much of a surprise given that we saw Aaron Rodgers miss seven weeks with the same injury just last year.

Foles, 25, suffered the injury back in Week 9, which means he’ll likely be out until Week 15 or 16 depending on how things go in the next few weeks.

He still has another year remaining on his four-year, $2.769 million rookie contract, which includes a base salary of $660,000 for the 2015 season.

Mark Sanchez has actually done a decent job filling in for Foles in recent weeks. Over the course of five games, Sanchez has thrown for 1,404 yards while completing 63.4 percent of his passes to go along with eight touchdowns and six interceptions.

It will really be interesting to see what the Eagles elect to do regarding their starting quarterback position once Foles is healthy enough to return. Of course, it will come down to Sanchez’s play over the next few weeks, but there is definitely a chance they could keep him in place as their starter for the playoffs.

We’ll have more updates regarding Foles’ injury as the news is available.
