The Eagles recently met with Asomugha’s agent at the Combine regarding a contract restructuring, but McLane believes it’s unlikely that this meeting will lead to anything substantial.
Asomugha, 31, received a five-year deal worth $60 million contract and includes $25 million guaranteed. He has a base salary of $15.5 million for the upcoming season, but $4 million of that figure is fully guaranteed. Philadelphia would take a cap hit if they were to release him.
This could end up being a very interesting situation to watch in the next few weeks.
Other Eagles notes:
- Multiple sources have told CSN Philly that Trent Cole will be back with the Eagles in 2013. (Geoff Mosher)
- Free agent DT Derek Landri is unlikely to be back with the Eagles. (Jeff McLane)
