Still Concerns Regarding Giants RB David Wilson’s Recovery From Neck Surgery

In a recent article regarding the Giants’ running back situation, Dan Graziano of ESPN.com writes that “no one knows if [David] Wilson will ever play again following neck surgery.”

Graziano adds that indications seem to suggest that Wilson will play again, but he adds that “no one knows for sure yet.

Giants GM Jerry Reese told reporters a few weeks ago that he expects Wilson to be cleared for contact before the start of training camp, which is at least a positive sign regarding Wilson’s status moving forward.

New York did add some much needed depth at running back by signing Rashad Jennings in free agency and later drafting Andre Williams in the fourth round. It’s worth mentioning that the Giants also re-signed Peyton Hillis as well, but it’s hard to expect him to see much playing unless someone gets injured.

Graziano believes the Giants should ultimately allow Jennings to be the “lead dog” and allow Wilson get healthy and allow Williams to get acclimated to the team’s offense.

Wilson, 22, was a first-round pick of the Giants back in 2012. He has struggled with ball security at times, which led to him being benched, but there is no question that has impressive ability when healthy.
