No Progress Between The Texans & Matt Schaub On Contract Extension

Jerome Solomon of the Houston Chronicle writes that despite extending the contracts of GM Rick Smith and head coach Gary Kubiak, there’s been little progress towards a long-term agreement with QB Matt Schaub.

Schaub, 31, will be entering the final year of his contract, but talks between the two sides haven’t been productive enough to be anywhere near an agreement, or so it seems.

Schaub suffered a season-ending Lisfranc injury that forced rookie QB T.J. Yates into the starting lineup for the franchises first playoff game. There’s still a chance a deal could get done in the coming months, so this appears to be one of the topics to watch as the season draws near.
