“Nothing Appears Imminent” Regarding A New Contract For Giants WR Victor Cruz

The Giants have indicated that they would like to lock up wide receiver Victor Cruz to a new contract at some point this season, but “nothing appears imminent,” per Bob Glauber of Newsday.

“I just kind of want to block it out,” Cruz said in regards to a new contract, via Glauber. “I feel like if I start thinking about it, it will start consuming me, and I don’t want it to get that way. I just want to block it out and focus on football, and I think I’ve been doing a good job of that.”

Cruz is by far one of the NFL’s lowest paid stars, making $540,000 dollars this season. With 50 receptions for 627 yards and seven touchdowns so far on the year, Cruz has shown last season’s performance was more than just a one-hit-wonder. Cruz has shown he’s one of the NFL’s elite wide receivers and deserves to be paid like one.

Cruz, who is a restricted free agent after this season, ranks eighth on our Top 50 NFL Free Agents list.
