Nothing Imminent Between The Steelers & Ben Roethlisberger Regarding An Extension

According to Scott Brown of ESPN.com, a contract extension between the Steelers and QB Ben Roethlisberger is not imminent at this point in time.

There’s been ongoing (contract) discussions for quite awhile,” Ryan Tollner, Roethlisberger’s agent, said. “I think from the time we did the first extension there was sort of a plan moving forward. There’s a plan in place, but both sides are pretty committed to doing that privately and not having it be something that’s discussed in the media.”

Roethlisberger, 32, still has two years remaining on his eight-year, $102 million contract that included $33.2 million guaranteed.

He is scheduled to make $12.1 million for the 2014 season, but the Steelers have said that they intend to lock him up to a contract that will allow him to retire as a Steeler.

Last year, Roethlisberger appeared in all 16 games for the first time since 2008. He completed 64.2 percent of his passes for 4,261 yards, 28 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 11 quarterback in the league last year.
