“Nothing Imminent” Between Ravens & Trent Richardson As Of Now

Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun mentions that it sounds as though there’s “nothing imminent” between the Ravens and free agent RB Trent Richardson right now.

  • Zrebiec adds that Baltimore has other immediate matters to deal with, but admits that they could still sign Richardson at some point.

A report surfaced last week that the Ravens were likely to sign Richardson to a contract, but the team later downplayed the situation a bit.

We’re talking to him right now,” John Harbaugh said, via the Baltimore Sun. “He seems like a good guy. I’ve talked to him on the phone a new times. (General manager Ozzie Newsome) has all the ties from from Alabama. We’ll see where it goes. It’s in the works. It’s possible. I don’t think it’s finalized yet, but it is a possibility.”

It’s likely that if Richardson is signed, he would be given just an opportunity to compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and training camp.

Richardson, 25, was taken with the No. 3 overall pick by the Browns during the 2012 NFL draft. However, he lasted just over a year in Cleveland before he was traded to the Colts for a first-round pick.

The Raiders elected to sign him to a two-year, $3.85 million contract that included $600,000 guaranteed back in March last year only to release him during roster cuts.

In 2014, he ran for 519 yards on 159 carries (3.3 YPC) to go along with 27 receptions for 229 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 running back out of 57 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Richardson and the Ravens as the news is available.
