NT Antonio Garay Still An Option For San Diego

Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune writes that the Chargers do have an offer on the table for NT Antonio Garay, but according to Garay’s agent Drew Rosenhaus, he’s in no rush to sign with a team.

We’re still looking for a good home for him,” said Rosenhaus. “We are maintaining a line of communication with the Chargers. I don’t know how quickly we’ll get a deal done, but I think Antonio is a fine defensive tackle who’s played extremely well these past two seasons.”

Garay, 32, didn’t exactly live up to his amazing 2010 season in which he was rated as the #2 best defensive tackle in the league by Pro Football Focus. The Chargers would have to address the position in the draft should Garay choose to sign elsewhere so I’m sure they’ve made a competitive offer to him, but Rosenhaus appears to be willing to shop around for the time being.

We’re working hard to find a good fit for him,” Rosenhaus added. “There’s a number of teams interested in him. We’re just trying to find the right team at the right number and the right situation.”

We have Garay listed as the #27 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
