Oakland Keeping QB’s Quiet

Vittorio Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle approachedĀ Jason Campbell to get his take on the recent change at quarterback for the Oakland Raiders but was told that the team had asked Campbell to stay away from the media. Campbell also mentioned that he would have had no problem discussing the issue but was informed not to.

It’s somewhat of a smart move on the Raiders part simply because it will help to limit the amount of negative attention that the team has been getting for benching Campbell after only six quarters of football. At some point in the season Campbell will have to discuss the situation whether it was for the best or not.

Bruce Gradkowski was asked about his job security and replied that, “You just never know. Winning’s the name of the game, and if I’m not getting it done I’m sure he’s going to try to find someone else who will. You just have to respect that.”

Gradkowski isn’tĀ guaranteedĀ to have any longer of a leash than Campbell had so the Raiders will expect results right away. The problem for him is that the Raiders will have to Cardinals and then the Houston Texans who look like a playoff contender. The Cardinals game is more winnable than in recent years but they’re still not a team to sleep on. It seems that the Raiders are getting back to Al Davis’s slogan, “just win baby.”
