Oakland Could Be A Landing Spot For DE Jared Allen

Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com was asked during his Saturday mailbag whether he thought Vikings DE Jared Allen could be a good fit for the Raiders.

According to Gutierrez, signing a veteran defensive end in free agency “makes all the sense in the world” for the Raiders.

Gutierrez mentions that Allen would given them the “prototypical edge rusher” while not forcing them to commit to a long-term contract that includes large base salaries.

Oakland has a phenomenal amount of cap space to work with, so they should have any trouble filling out their roster will veterans on a one or two-year contract.

The Buccaneers have also been mentioned as a speculative option for the Allen given his ties to Leslie Frazier.

Allen, 31, has been an extremely productive player during his time in Minnesota, and although his 2013 season wasn’t as good as years past, he still manged to tally 11.5 sacks, 52 tackles and two forced fumbles.

Pro Football Focus has Allen rated as the No. 34 among qualifying 4-3 defensive ends. We have him listed as the No. 40 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
