Ochocinco On The Chopping Block?

The New England Patriots are paying Chad Ochocinco $6 million for the 2011 season despite not playing a huge role in the teams offensive scheme. Yesterday, he was on the field for seven snaps with one pass in his direction, per Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com.

Chad still looks uncomfortible in the teams offense even though his one target was on a play that was specifically designed to get him the ball.

Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe writes that Ochocinco relies on his teams to tell him where to lineup from time to time.

At this point in time you would have to wonder whether or not keeping him on the teams roster is even worth it as he’s currently unable to contribute in any capacity.

New England was reported to be interested in trading for Brandon Lloyd which is an obvious indication that they feel that the receiver position is an obvious weakness for them. The only step left is for them to bench him indefinitely.
