Offensive Play Caller Options For The Cowboys

Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas takes a look at some of the candidates that the Cowboys could bring in as offensive play-callers next season.

Watkins lists Hue Jackson, Jim Caldwell, and Mike Tice as potential options for the Cowboys to consider, with offensive line coach Bill Callahan and quarterback coach Wade Wilson being at the top of the in-house candidates.

Wilson is a long shot but remains an option due to his experience and familiarity with Garrett’s offense system. Callahan spent a year in the system and has previously run a West Coast offense back when he was with the Oakland Raiders.

Jackson and Caldwell currently hold positions while Tice was recently let go by the Bears. The Cowboys could wait until the Ravens’ season ends and then go after Caldwell but its expected he’ll get a salary raise for his excellent work with the team’s offense in a brief period of time.

Currently, Callahan is viewed as the strongest candidate to take over Garrett’s play calling duties.
