Deadline Passes For Suspended Players To Be Reinstated For Week 2

Update:

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the roster deadline for players to play in Sunday’s games has passed, which means that there will be no players reinstated in time for Week 2.

Ian Rapoport reports that NFL teams have been informed that suspensions are unlikely to be lifted before Sunday’s games get underway.

Despite the league submitting a proposal to the NFLPA and player reps voting in favor of the deal, issues still remain between the two sides, which means this subject is likely to carry over into next week.

The NFLPA has yet to release a list of players who will be cleared now that there are new rules in place for the 2014 season, according to Mike Garafolo.

  • Garafolo adds that the list is believed to be “in the range of 20” players.

Here’s a list of players that will reportedly have their suspensions listed:

Adam Caplan reports that Eagles OT Lane Johnson will not be among the players reinstated because it falls under-PEDs and not substance abuse.

Tom Pelissero points out that no suspensions have been overturned or reduced as of now and this will require the NFL to sign off on the terms of the agreement.

However, the league proposed the deal to the players this week, so it would be surprising to see them vote against their own proposal.

was another player specifically mentioned this week who could have his suspension lifted following an agreement on a new NFL Drug Policy.

It’s worth mentioning that with the deal being reached tonight, there is no guarantee that any players reinstated for Week 2 will see much, if any, meaningful playing time.

We’re going to be adding more updates here as the news is available.
