Ozzie Newsome Noncommittal Regarding Terrell Suggs Status For 2014

The Baltimore Ravens held a postseason press conference on Wednesday that featured team owner Steve Bisciotti, GM Ozzie Newsome and HC John Harbaugh, and while they covered a number of topics, Terrell Suggs future with the Ravens was probably the most interesting.

According to Aaron Wilson, Newsome was “noncommittal” regarding Suggs’ status for the 2014 season.

Suggs, 31, is two years removed from being the Defensive Player of the Year, and is coming off of a year in which he totaled 80 tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery. Suggs does, however, have a $7.8 million base salary next salary and a $12.4 million cap figure.

Wilson reports that sources have informed him that the Ravens would like to reach a compromise regarding this situation, but adds that it will ultimately come down to the numbers.

Pro Football Talk reports that a league source has informed them that Suggs is open to negotiating a contract extension with the team.

It’s worth noting that Newsome did say that they will consider the idea of discussions extensions for a few players, so we could very well see some progress made in the coming months
