Packers 4th-Rd OLB Vince Biegel Underwent Surgery For Jones Fracture

ESPN’s Rob Demovsky and Adam Schefter are reporting that Packers fourth-round OLB Vince Biegel underwent foot surgery last week to correct a Jones fracture.

According to the report, the Packers are still hoping he’ll be back for the start of training camp on July 27 but that’s not considered a guarantee at this point in time.

It’s worth mentioning that Biegel previously underwent the same procedure during his college career at Wisconsin and missed two games.

The Packers were obviously looking to bolster their pass-rush depth by taking Biegel, but this injury could leave him behind their other edge rushers to open the season.

Biegel, 23, was selected with the No. 108 overall pick by the Packers in this year’s NFL Draft. Green Bay actually got this pick for trading out of round one with the Browns.

During his college career at Wisconsin, Biegel recorded 131 tackles, 28.5 tackles for a loss, 15 sacks, two forced fumbles and three pass defenses over the course of 36 games.
