Packers Attempted To Negotiate Pay Cut For RT Bryan Bulaga

Bob McGinn (per Aaron Nagler) reports that the Packers attempted to negotiate a pay cut with RT Bryan Bulaga this offseason, but he ultimately declined and talks went nowhere.

The Packers reportedly tried to negotiate a pay cut with WR Randall Cobb earlier this offseason, but nothing ever came of those talks either.

Bulaga is coming off of a serious knee injury and some have wondered if he could be a potential roster cut, considering his cap figure. We’ll have to see if the Packers address the offensive tackle position early in the draft or if they move forward with Bulaga as their right tackle for the start of training camp.

Bulaga, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Packers back in 2010. He’s currently in the four year of his five-year, $33.75 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $5.85 million and $5.8 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Bulaga has appeared in five games for the Packers and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 39 offensive tackle out of 78 qualifying players.
