Packers Roster Cuts Including WR Ed Williams

The Green Bay Packers have begun the process of trimming their roster down to 75 players. Here’s the full list of roster cuts up to this point.

  1. WR Ed Williams
  2. DT Demetris Anderson
  3. CB Randall Jette
  4. WR Jamel Johnson
  5. LB Derrick Mathews
  6. P Peter Mortell
  7. WR Harvey Binford

Other roster moves include:

  • TE Kennard Backman, RB John Crockett, C Jacob Flores, TE Mitchell Henry and G Josh Walker (Injured Reserve)

Backman, 23, is a former sixth-round pick of the Packers last year. He’s in the second year of his four-year, $2.370 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Backman appeared in seven games for the Packers, but didn’t record a single reception.

Williams, 25, wound up going undrafted out of Fort Hays State back in 2015. He signed on with the Packers a few days later, but was unfortunately among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason last year.

Green Bay did sign him to their practice squad and later bring him back on a future/reserve contract this past January.

Williams has yet to appear in an NFL game.
