Packers CB Sam Shields Expected To Return In “A Few More Weeks”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Packers CB Sam Shields‘ recent concussion isn’t career-ending and the team believes he’ll need “a few more weeks” to return.

While some had wondered if Shields could consider retiring, Schefter says that he received a good report from a concussion specialist on Thursday, and it appears he will eventually return.

This is believed to be Shields’ fourth concussion of his NFL career.

Shields, 28, wound up signing on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Miami back in 2010. He’s spent all six years of his career with the Packers and is currently in the third year of his four-year, $39 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $8 million this season.

In 2016, Shields has appeared in one game and recorded three tackles for the Packers.
