Packers Have Been Checking On RBs Including Ronnie Hillman

Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports that the Packers have have “poking around” on free agent running backs, including Ronnie Hillman.

This comes just hours after the Packers signed TE Jared Cook to a one-year contract, which is a bit of a surprise, seeing as Green Bay very rarely signs a free agent from another team.

Pelissero mentions that the Packers are likely done in the free agent market after signing Cook, but it’s at least worth watching what happens with some of the available free agent running backs in the coming weeks/months.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Packers brought back James Starks on a two-year contract a few weeks ago.

Hillman, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Broncos back in 2012. He has played out his rookie contract and is now testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time.

In 2015, Hillman appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and ran for 863 yards on 207 carries (4.2 YPC) to go along with 24 receptions for 111 yards receiving and seven total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 49 running back out of qualifying 69 players.

We have him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
