Packers Claim P Jake Schum Off Waivers, Cut P Tim Masthay

The Green Bay Packers announced that they’ve claimed P Jake Schum off of waivers from the Buccaneers on Tuesday and waived P Tim Masthay.

This comes just a day after the Packers waived P Peter Mortell.

Schum, 27, originally signed on with the Browns as undrafted free agent out of Buffalo back in 2013. He lasted just a few months before joining the Buccaneers at the end of the 2013 season.

Since then, he’s had multiple stints with the Jets and Buccaneers before he was waived by Tampa Bay on Monday.

In 2015, Schum appeared in all 16 games for the Buccaneers and totaled 2,208 punt yards on 56 attempts and four touchbacks.

Masthay, 29, was in the final year of his five-year, $6.005 million contract and was set to make a base salary of $1.2 million for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Masthay appeared in all 16 games for the Packers and totaled 3,380 punt yards on 81 attempts and six touchbacks.
