Packers Close To Signing DT Anthony Hargrove

This has been the most exciting offseason for the Green Bay Packers in years. Normally, you don’t hear anything about the Packers during free agency, but so far, they’ve already signed C Jeff Saturday, who is the first player signed during free agency since 2009, and have brought in a number of defensive players for visits.

Former Seahawks DT Anthony Hargrove tweeted last night that he’s on the verge of signing with the Packers.

Not official, but like I said green and yellow,” tweets Hargrove, Scout.com. “Can’t wait for my first Lambeau Leap.”

There’s no question that the Packers defensive line needs to be improved, and despite playing only a limited number of snaps during the 2011 season, Hargrove was actually pretty effective for Seattle. He was not only able to be a decent run-stopper, but he was able to put some pressure on the quarterback from the interior. It seems like a deal could be done in the next day or two.
